When I reached his floor, he disappeared into his room. I called him out several times, but as usual, he did not answer.
“Did you hear any dragging noise that time?” Jack asked.
“No, it was around 12 noon. the dragging sound only came during late night and very early morning.”
“And you mean only when it is dark.”
“Yes, yes.” the elderly man replied narrowing his eyes.
A news article wrote about an accident in the Guljohar apartment. ‘a young girl, Ritu, fell off the building under suspicious circumstances. Some said it was a suicide attempt. Local residents say that girl was ditched by the fiancee, Raj. The girl jumped from the building, however, she fell on a tree that saved her life.’
The book is a suspense thriller and it is written in simple language. Language and the pace of the book do not become any hindrance in reading a mystery plot. Jack is the officer who will unravel the mystery behind the unfortunate event and there is a number of characters to bring forth the revelation. The elements of suspense are wisely maintained by the author. Though I found the chapter structure a little coarse, the simple writing and non-complexed characters made me sail through it comfortably.
For those who like suspense and a quick-paced, easy read, this book can better serve those readers. The anticipation and twist factors are fine and make the book, an interesting reading experience.
